Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Step Season apps and the web app at stepseason.vercel.app, operated by David Girgis (“we”). By creating an account or joining a League you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Step Season.

What Step Season is

A free app for friends to compare daily step counts in Leagues: a Commissioner creates a League, members join with an invite code, and a Season (a month by default) is scored from the steps each member's phone or watch reports. Standings, Playoffs and prizes are between the members of a League and nobody else.

Your account

You sign in with Apple or Google. Keep one account per person, keep your device secure, and don't use someone else's account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live). You can delete your account at any time from You (iPhone) or Settings (web).

Leagues, Commissioners and fair play

The Commissioner of a League sets its rules inside the app: dates, scoring mode, reveal schedule, Teams, whether manually entered steps count, and whether flagged members show a badge. The app flags manually entered days, days from unrecognised apps and implausible days to the Commissioner, who decides what counts, may exclude a day, and may remove or disqualify a member. We provide the tools; we do not referee Leagues or decide disputes between members.

Prizes

Prizes are free-text descriptions written by a League's Commissioner — “dinner on the losers”, “bragging rights” — and are arranged solely between the members of that League. Step Season never collects, holds, transfers or awards money or anything else of value, takes no fee, and is not a party to any prize. There is nothing to buy or win from us. Prizes are arranged between friends. Apple is not a sponsor of any prize. Apple is not involved in any League in any manner.

Your content

You own what you put into Step Season: your display name, League names and descriptions, prize text, feed reactions, manual entries and screenshots. You give us permission to store it and show it to the members of your Leagues, which is all we do with it. Keep it lawful and decent; we may remove content or accounts that aren't.

Acceptable use

Don't try to break the service, access other people's data, or interfere with other users. Entering steps by hand is allowed where the League allows it — it is always shown to the Commissioner as a manual entry — but feeding the app fabricated data to deceive your League is not in the spirit of the game and may get you removed by your Commissioner.

Health information

Step counts are shown for fun and motivation. Step Season is not a medical device and gives no medical advice; talk to a professional about your health and activity. Counts depend on your devices and their apps and may be incomplete or late.

Availability and changes

Step Season is offered as a free service between friends. We may change, pause or stop it, or change these terms, at any time; if a change matters we will say so in the app and update the effective date above.

Ending your account

Delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms or abuse the service. Deleting an account removes its data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers and liability

Step Season is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for anything arising from a League, a prize, or a step count that turned out to be wrong. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law says cannot be limited.
