Step Season

Step Season for Android

A small companion app that reads your steps from Health Connect and syncs them to your Leagues every hour. Standings live here on the web — add this site to your home screen for the full app feel.

1 · Install

Android 9 or newer. The app is shared directly with friends, not on the Play Store, so Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser — tap Settings in that prompt and turn on Allow from this source, then go back and install.

From 30 September 2026 (Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand first, then everywhere in 2027), Android also blocks installs from developers Google hasn't verified. Step Season ships through Google's free limited-distribution developer account, so this download keeps working for the group it was shared with — if Play Protect still shows a warning, choose More details → Install anyway.

2 · Open Step Season

Open the downloaded app from your notifications or app drawer and sign in with the same Google or Apple account you use here — your Leagues show up immediately, before steps ever sync.

3 · Health Connect

  1. Install Health Connect from the Play Store if your phone is on Android 13 or older (it is built into Android 14+).
  2. Make sure your step app writes to Health Connect: Samsung Health, Google Fit, Garmin Connect, Fitbit, Oura and Zepp all can — turn on “Steps” sharing in that app's Health Connect settings.
  3. Back in Step Season, tap Allow for Steps, background access and history when it asks Health Connect for permission.

4 · Keep it syncing

Battery settings → Step Season → Unrestricted, so the hourly sync is not put to sleep. Open the app any time to sync immediately.
